It's my absolute favorite restaurant & bar! We visit often and have are always elated with the chef's creations -- la perfection! The entire staff is efficient and gracious although my favorite is Jared -- the most talented, handsome and kind barkeep ever! It's our happy place!!

Jared and the staff are always on top of things. We always have amazing dinners there. The baked oysters are out of this world!!

One of my favorite French Restaurants. No matter when I go - (and I go often) you get a quality meal. Starting with the fantastic bar staff who are artisans behind the bar. They have a true craft with their signature cocktails. I typically sit and eat at the bar. The owner is on site at all times and he is the chef. The classics are done right and the new takes on some of the fish dishes are awesome. The appetizers are fabulous. The cheese plates are great. Their bread is ooooohhhhhhh.
Its a no brainer.

Just had another lovely evening at Slate Bleu. Food is always exquisitely prepared, drinks are done properly, service is attentive but not intrusive, and the atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Don't show up on the weekend without a reservation. Not inexpensive, but is worth it.

My wife and I are regulars here so I can't believe it has taken me so long to write a review. Last night (New year's eve) we enjoyed one of the best meals at Slate Bleu yet. Let me make it clear that EVERY meal we have ever had is simply amazing, and the cocktails that Jared makes are out of this world. We decided to go with some of their specials...oysters, salad with St. Andre cheese, and venison medallions. For dessert we had a Clementine Charlotte....too good and delicate to even describe. Bottom line is that the chef is an artist. Without a doubt this is the best restaurant (food, service, ambience) anywhere in the area. You absolutely must give it a try if you have never been to Slate Bleu.

Amazing little french restaurant in the heart of Doylestown. I've been here multiple times, my favorite dish is the chicken livers. That said, I have yet to experience a dish that I disliked.
Some recommendations; more foie gras dishes would be nice. Perhaps some french style birds like pigeon, other game. More offal, maybe some veal kidneys flambeed in cognac.
Beyond that, I highly recommend this restaurant if you're tired of pub grub, Italian, Chinese, Sushi, Mexican etc. It's a nice change in taste from the norm.

This is a totally wonderful restaurant! The food is absolutely phenomenal. The perfect amount of so very tasty wonderfully created food. Not the like the usual American overfilled plate of totally worthless food that is normally served in the not so good restaurants. This perfectly run Cafe is superb! Just devine, the chef is worth his weight in gold. I wish I could clone him and take him home so I could enjoy his delightful food everyday. I eat there every week, have never been dissapointed, and enjoy the fact that I can enjoy my food at a leisurely pace, as opposed to some restaurants that bring your main course while you are still eating your appetizer. Perfect Perfect Perfect This restaurant is A++++++++

I have not been to a restaurant this good in a long time. From the appetizers to the main course, everything was phenomenal. I had high hopes going in by recommendation, so my girlfriend and I ordered dishes we do not normally like. We evey single dish and didn't leave anything on the plate. I would recommend Slate Bleu to anyone for any occassion. You are honestly missing out if do not experience.

The food was fabulous. I saw this on the Philly Food Network and had wanted to go for some time. It was terrific and I will be going back again very soon. We had the beets and orange salad, cold oysters, Duck and Scallops for the main course that leave you wanting to lick the plate, and delicious delicate and flavorful desserts of chocolate raspberry cake and creme brulee. Our waiter Eric had a funny handle bar mustache that added a whimsical flair to the french cuisine and atmosphere, cozy, friendly, and very reasonable too. The service was impeccable, thank you. I will be going back for the Wed eve all night happy hour.

The food and service are top-drawer. The ambience is quiet, elegant, warm. The menu is a big quirky and the prices are high, but the quality matches the prices.

I needed to grade a few papers after class today and decided to try Slate Bleu for lunch. I ate at their bar, which gave me plenty of space to sprawl out, and was pleasantly surprised by their menu. Once my Salad of bleu cheese, figs and pecans arrived, I could hardly concentrate on my mess of papers. It was absolutely delicious as a first course.
For my entrée, I ordered the lamb sandwich with french fries and I must say It was on freakin' good bread! This was no undercooked, doughy cheesesteak long roll or chewy kaiser bun covered in corn meal that cuts open the roof of your mouth- this was crusty french baguette...My rule is, THE BREAD MAKES THE SANDWICH. This was a perfect example of that. Warm on the inside and saturated in jus, the lamb fell apart in my mouth in each bite, and the spicy garlic sauce smeared on the bread harmonized perfectly. I'm a big eater and thought I'd be ordering some dessert, but after the large entrée I was quite content.
The service was pretty good, but I usually don't care about that when I go out alone. I'm there to do my own thing and not be bothered by the waiters talking my ear off. Slate Bleu was exactly what I want when I dine alone. I will certainly be back for lunch.

I had the pleasure of eating at Slate Bleu recently, and it was a truly excellent dining experience, a rare find that I would recommend to anyone.
The service is very attentive and gracious, and the food is very fair priced, especially for the out-of-this-world quality. The bar and wine list are also fairly priced at a great selection. Every single dish is fully homemade, right down to the pasta. I had the Skate, and I honestly can say I've never had a Skate dish cooked and put together so perfectly. It was delicious.
I go out to dinner a lot, and I can confidently say that Slate Bleu is like dining out at a high-end, expensive New York restaurant, at a much lower price, and with the casual feel and comfort of being Doylestown Borough. It was really a wonderful experience.
